Makamba Online will host an Entrepreneurship Exchange Breakfast on the 25th February 2016 in Sandton, South Africa. Dr. James Makamba, a celebrated African entrepreneur and philanthropist is the owner of Makamba Online, and brainchild behind the event. The event will be a combined effort of Makamba Online and various business partners and sponsors within the corporate arena.
The Entrepreneurial Eco-System
The event provides a far-reaching networking setting for African businesses with a definitive focus on developing as business magnets and as upcoming entrepreneurs. The forum will develop and uplift emerging entrepreneurs and open entrepreneurship opportunities within Africa, with a focused discussion on the Entrepreneurial Eco-System in South African and beyond its borders into Africa.
The man behind Makamba
Dr. James Makamba is a Zimbabwean pioneer and innovator in many African markets. An accomplished entrepreneur with a wide-ranging portfolio of interests covering telecommunications, broadcasting, media, retail, mining and consultancy, Makamba wishes to impart his entrepreneurial knowledge and experience on to other emerging business persons in Africa.
Currently Makamba is the Chairman of the Board of Telecel Zimbabwe, serves as a trustee of the Bongi Ngema Zuma Foundation, sits on the boards of Ibbamo Foundation, JHL Investments, Thurlow and Company, the Kestrel Corporation (Pty) Ltd, African Business Connect, and The Makamba Group. In recent years he has also sat on various other boards, including that of Anglo African Minerals.
Makamba founded the Ibbamo Foundation, registering it in South Africa and the United Kingdom. The organisation raises funds and establishes projects for improving educational opportunities for disadvantaged African children. Through the Ibbamo Foundation, Makamba has raised funds for the Jacob Zuma Education Trust. Makamba is both a winner and helper at the same time. His business acumen speaks a lot as is his giving hand. The work of Ibbamo Foundation in lifting the educational lives of the poor in South Africa serves as a good example of the philanthropic work this business magnate has done.
In order to uplift emerging African entrepreneurs, he created Makamba Online, a digital platform where entrepreneurs share opinions, share experiences, and can gain business savvy advice from industry leaders across Africa. “I have a lot of experience, in many areas of life, of getting things done. If I can pass on what I know to the younger generation, so that they can accelerate their development and progress, then I will consider my life well lived,” Makamba said.
On sustainable business management and young people, Dr. James Makamba kindled wisdom in a few words. “Wealth is not just a good thing, it’s essential – because it’s an empowerment tool. Without it we can’t rid Africa of Malaria or Aids, equip villages and towns with electricity and telecommunications, create jobs, and make businesses sustainable. It’s vital that young people are adequately prepared for participation in and appreciation of the generation of wealth,” he said.
Dr. James Makamba as a successful African entrepreneur represents the caliber of entrepreneurs who will attend the upcoming African Entrepreneurship Exchange Breakfast.
