Design-a-t-shirt competition: Q&A with Tatenda Chris Makari

The third and final finalist in the Makamba Online Design-a-t-shirt competition is Tatenda Chris Makari. Chris hails from Harare, Zimbabwe, and is now based in Johannesburg. He has previously completed a two year Graphic Design course and a diploma in IT. He says that he has also had a number of years’ experience in retail and customer service. Makamba Online recently spoke with this talented designer about his passion and future potential. This is what he had to say:

Q: Where does you passion for design come from?

A: “My passion is driven from my parents, both former teachers and my dad is also an author. The interest came from when I used to observe my older siblings draw as a kid.”

Q: What do you love most about design?

A: “The message, colours and style used in creating the design.”

Q: Are you an aspirant entrepreneur?

A: “I am very interested in learning more on how to start my own business.”

Q: Tell me about your t-shirt design?

A: “My design basically showcase the love and respect I have for Africa through the various colours used. I have also tried to highlight a message to be HEARD as a people.”

Chris says that he believes people should vote for his design because of the message it holds for the people, and for the great feeling you get when thinking of Africa.
