Lufthansa to have 6 Frankfurt-Nairobi weekly flights

June 7, 2017 9:04 am

German airline Lufthansa will this month increase the number of weekly flights between Frankfurt and Nairobi from five to six.

Lufthansa, the largest airline in Europe by fleet size, plans to increase operations on the Frankfurt-Nairobi route from June 21.

Meanwhile, Swiss International Air Lines is also expected to increase its weekly flights between Zurich and Nairobi from five to six from July 6. The move is set to give the Kenyan tourism sector a much-needed boost. The flights increase by the carriers comes at a time when the high tourist season in the country begins next month.

Hotels that were shut down for the April low season at the Coast are expected to re-open by the end of this month and July 15.

“We are giving Kenyan travellers more options for their summer holidays,” Lufthansa Group East Africa regional sales general manager Tobias Ernst said.

The Lufthansa flights will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on an Airbus A340-300. The airline will maintain the late-night departure from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. With an early morning arrival in Frankfurt, passengers will have access to more than 200 destinations to Europe, North and South America as well as in Asia.

Swiss International Air Lines will operate the six flights between Zurich and Nairobi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Swiss offers a network of connections from its Zurich hub to major European, North American and Asian cities.
