Goulabjamoun is a sweet potato dessert enjoyed in Zambia. It was brought there from India, where it was adapted from an ancient dessert eaten in Baghdad.
Ingredients
120 ml milk
500 grams’ sweet potatoes
100 grams’ wheat flour
80 grams’ sugar
2 sticks cinnamon, ground
Oil for frying
Method
Peel the sweet potatoes, cut into cubes and boil in the milk until soft. Mash in the milk then add the cinnamon and flour. Knead into a dough and shape into balls. Deep fry in oil golden brown then drain on kitchen paper and serve.
