Al- Makura said Maku, who played a dual role as Supervising Minister of Defence, had to explain the alleged role he played in the ‘failed deal that cost the country hundreds of millions.’

“The ongoing probe by the federal government into the $2,1 billion arms deal will not be complete if investigation into how Maku, as Supervising Minister of Defence, deceived Nigerians that the release of the abducted Chibok girls was possible and he allegedly collected millions of Naira to initiate the plans is not look into it,” Al-Makurasaid.

Members of the Boko Haram terror group abducted the more than 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State in April 2014.

Efforts to rescue them have been futile. It was reported a deal had been reached with the terrorists to release the girls but nothing came of such.

“The public is interested in knowing those behind the purported deal andhow they came in contact with those who allegedly knew the whereabouts ofthe school girls,” Al-Makura said.

The former minister has been quoted as saying he would soon speak over the issues. However, Al-Makura said the “outburst” by Maku was an attempt to drawpublic sympathy as the probe on the arms deal was gradually coming closeto him.

He also challenged Maku, who hails from the state, to also explain hisrole in the Ombatse and Baba Alakyo saga and the killings of over 76 security operatives in his state while he was Supervising Minister of Defence.
